There aren’t many who will stand up against the line busting Ma’a Nonu, a double world cup winner for New Zealand decided to try and help out ref Wayne Barnes dealing out yellow cards to the Scarlets during their final pool match of the champions cup.
In a tough final group match that Toulon eventually went on to lose the 12 for the French team decided to offer his advice to Wayne as he was giving the Scarlets their final warning about multiple penalties conceeded in the red zone. The English ref then told Ma’a to head away before going over to have a word with him later before restarting the game.
Wayne headed over and left the New Zealander with these words. “Let’s make it really clear, you ask for a yellow, you’ll get one.”
Refereeing how it should be.
