An amino acid drink isn’t something you’d even have thought about having in your supplements years ago. Those old timers down the club will tell you you’re stupid. But it’s those marginal gains that it takes to get to to the top of the modern game of rugby these days. Even if you’re just wanting to make a step up into the first team or even start the journey with us to get fit for rugby this Amino Energy will stand you in good stead.
I decided to take this as an addition to my normal diet, I previously only had pre-workout and protein with the addition of whatever we are testing that week. I ordered my Blueberry flavor to try as it’s not something I normally go for. At the minute my workouts are a bit unplanned and happen around other things like family and work, the only thing that is a standard in my calendar is rugby training on a Thursday night. That generally means that I’m really relying on my pre-workout to get me pumped for a workout as i don’t have much time to prepare.
I decided to give this a try as a pre-workout as it does have serving suggestions based around that. Whilst i found it did a half decent job it’s no hardcore pre-workout, especially against our favourite 4 Gauge pre workout. In terms of recovery post-workout, i really found this to be a great addition.
2 weeks into this now, I’m really enjoying adding these to my post-workout supplements. Putting this alongside a protein shake after my workout has really helped my recovery, getting up in the morning when the aches and pains are starting is usually the difficult moment of the day but the recovery has certainly improved. I have also started having it during the day as a substitute for coffee once a day.
I will definitely be keeping this in my supplement stack from now on. It helps with the recovery and general energy levels and that helps the effectiveness of pre-workout with caffeine and also protein through the Amino Acids.
Overall it’s a great addition to any supplement stack if you aren’t taking amino acids already. They are great value and you can mix it up with all the different flavors available.
Why Take Amino Acids?
Amino’s are the building blocks that the body uses to generate muscle, by supplementing with Amino Acids you allow the body to create and repair muscle tissue. They are used like lego when rebuilding the muscle fibers and therefore you will be
If you undersupply these amino acids the body will break down muscle tissue to repair your muscle that needs to be repaired after exercise. This then results in the unwanted reduction of muscle mass, this is called atrophy.
When do I take Amino Energy?
You can take Amino Energy throughout the day. If you struggle with sleeping once consumed caffeine it’s not recommended after 5 pm, depending on when you sleep that is.
How much should I take before a workout?
It’s advised servings for before a workout is between 1-3 servings if you are looking to this for your source of energy. If you already have pre-workout and are just adding the amino acids I would suggest taking into account the total caffeine intake. Though this is quite capable of acting as a pre-workout.
How many scoops should I take for post-workout recovery?
Between 1-2 servings are the recommended allowance of Amino Energy after training. This is obviously based on an average workout. I would gauge your requirements based on the exercise you’re doing that day.
