Maro Itoje is a major doubt for the Six Nations after confirmation of his injury received during their game against Harlequins. The England forward suffered a broken jaw and was taken straight to the hospital for assessment.
‘Maro has gone to hospital with a facial injury so we’ll get an update in the next 24 hours,’ Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall said in the immediate aftermath of Itoje’s injury. ‘They’re going to find out if it is structural.’
Rough estimates for recovery are 10 weeks to heal but Maro has exactly 2 months before the 6 Nations opener against Italy.
Saracens went on to lose the game after a Danny Care crossfield kick ended up in the hand of Tim Visser who crossed the line to continue the Sarries losing streak.
